I hadn’t realized the whole “missing white woman of the week” media-filler thing had been going on this long, but if I recall it had already began going strong in 2001.
Calousness aside, it was a sad thing - like all the other missing white women of the week since, she was a beautiful young person, and her loss was indeed a tragedy.
Why the Levy case earned so much attention is a lot more easy to explain with the connection to the philandering congressman, but so many of the cases since seem to have no rhyme or reason as to how they float to the top. Who knows how many women are victimized every week, but the ones that end up occupying dozens of hours a day on the networks and cable news all seem to be white and good looking.
Anyway - there’s a better post on the Levy thing at the link below.
No excuse for this. Apparently to stir up fear among the christophobics (not a word, I know, you get the idea) this amateur at Politico says:
…a conservative third-party group is countering with a provocative new commercial using Jesus Christ to emphasize the scale of the $787 billion package.
Translation: “no need to pay attention to these particular facts, they were stated within 20 seconds of the utterance of the name “Jesus.”
The video simply says that if you spent $1 million from the day Jesus was born until now it still wouldn’t be $800 billion.
What is this woman doing with a microphone pointed at her? What is she doing in the White House?
Ed Morrissey points out how simply innacurate the woman is:
The Taliban in Pakistan cross the border into Afghanistan to fight the government and NATO; they are primarily Pakistanis, not Afghans. Osama bin Laden is neither — he’s a Saudi of Yemeni descent who runs a network of mostly foreign fighters comprising Uighers, Uzbeks, Chechens, and Arabs out of the FATA, and who by the way attacked the US on 9/11 and not any of the aforementioned countries. “Their own country” is as ignorant as it gets.
Ignorant indeed. Like Thomas says at the end - “we (she) needs some intellectual honesty.”
The Arrorney General has called you and me a coward - claiming we as a nation are cowards in failing to openly discuss the race issue.
How’s this for open discussion on race:
People like Holder who like to drag race through everything they can and wring out every last drop of political power, sympathy, handouts, or what-have-you, who are exploiting race every opportunity - they are the ones keeping the nation in the last century, not the three dozen biggoted hayseeds wandering around in the hills.
Here is the pulse of liberalism. These children at NYU, who are already free to hate Isreal, hate capitalism, and whatever else they think is cool to hate - but that freedom isn’t enough. They aren’t content to hate as individuals, they want to harass “the group” into hating for them the way they want to hate as well. And if hate doesn’t happen on their behalf as demanded, they throw a tantrum.
Guy has dumb anti-Obama sign on his car. The police pull him over and take it. Cooler heads prevail and he is given the sign back.
The story here is the part that’s missing. Notice the guy that got pulled over and had his rights violated didn’t throw a hissy fit and end up in handcuffs? He complied with the mistaken police officer, went home, and called the police department.
The Secret Service paid him a visit and decided they needed to search his home to ensure he’s not a member of a hate group. Again, the guy cooperated but has seen a lawyer.
That’s how its done. Reckless protesters take notes.
